500 Star City workers displaced by fire to receive help from labor department

About 500 Star City workers left on a “no work, no pay” situation because of the fire that razed the amusement park on October 2 will receive assistance from the labor department.

The government agency said it is making available P5.5 million in emergency employment assistance to the affected employees, who could be out of work for six months.

The assistance will be extended to the displaced employees for two months.

The Public Employment Service Office of Pasay City, where Star City is located, will profile and assess the displaced workers for possible alternative employment to help ease their anxiety, according to the labor department.
