Angkas urged to use Bawal Bastos Law to address harassment accusation vs. driver

Senator Risa Hontiveros urged Angkas to use the “Bawal Bastos Law” to address an alleged harassment complaint against one of its drivers, who had been arrested and turned over to the Anonas Police Station in Quezon City.

The driver allegedly physically harassed his female passenger when she booked a ride home from Project 6 in Quezon City to Eastwood on October 5, according to a statement from Hontiveros.

“Confident ako that Angkas will be thorough in its investigation, and they will exact accountability,” the senator said.

The Bawal Bastos Law, or the Safe Spaces Act, prohibits acts such as catcalling, wolf-whistling, unwanted sexual comments and suggestions and any unwanted verbal or physical advances that threaten a person’s sense of space and physical safety.
