Implementing rules of Philippines’ universal health care law inked

Philippine Health Secretary Francisco Duque III signed the implementing rules and regulations of the country’s Universal Health Care Law, which aims to reorient health care towards health promotion and preventive care, from a system that focuses on curative care.

Each Filipino will be assigned to a health worker, who will deliver free essential health services and will guide patients through the different health care facilities.

Also, all Filipinos will automatically become PhilHealth members and be eligible to No Balance Billing once admitted to basic or ward accommodations in hospitals.
